Class Objectives

7th Grade Science

The year of seventh grade science is divided into units relating to the following topics: the building blocks of science, physical science, environmental science, and earth science. In order to study these topics, each class will have an opportunity to engage in discussions, laboratory activities, cooperative learning, projects, presentations, research, note taking, quizzes, tests, and other activities.





7th Grade science topics include:
  • Changes in Matter
    • atoms, elements, and compounds
    • properties of matter
    • chemical reactions
  • Organism and Ecosystem Interactions
    • photosynthesis and energy flow
    • predator/prey relationships and competition
    • matter cycles
  • How Earth Changes
    • plate tectonics and seafloor spreading
    • geoscience processes
    • earth's resources




In order to enhance learning, guest speakers may visit the classroom and students may have opportunities to take field trips that relate to topics being studied in 7th grade science class.
